In the water ready to go. April 2010 Insurance survey say's "above average" $248k value. What few recommendations (new raw water hoses for engines) recommended were carried out. MANY custom upgrades! SHOP AND COMPARE!!!
Shop and compare because the more you shop, the quicker you realize that this yacht is THE 99 buy on the market. Once you start comparing features "apples to apples" you REALLY realize this is the 4788 to buy! I know most ALL the 4788's for sale in the WORLD and this is the nicest 99, which also happens to be the lowest priced because the owner has his eye on a larger yacht and needs the slip this boat is sitting in for his new boat. Good 4788's are getting harder and harder to find and 99% of others on the market are vastly overpriced with sellers who owe more than their market values, which make them defacto "unsalable". This Yacht owner paid cash for her so can sell her to the market value of which the boat is priced. Most owners are upside down on their payoff's which is why you see such high prices on other 4788s.
99's have stainless steel rubrails- older 4788's don't. That alone makes a 99 model more desireable than earlier ones.
Intelligently upgraded. She has the same engine room access as a late model Meridian 490, which is direct from salon through custom opening in the sole- with ladder. No more "tunnel of knee pain". Options and upgrades:
- upgraded engine room access the same as 05-newer 490 Meridians- one can enter the engine room via ladder in salon instead of having to crawl in on your knees via hallway aks "the tunnel of pain".
- New refrigerator (go price one of these out!) 09
- 12.5kw Generator in sound shield (many have 8kws!)
New upholstery throughout
- New valances throughout. 09
- New LED lighting inside (white)and out (blue) Price this upgrade out! 09
- flybridge port side seats moved back so one can easily stand next to rail and see down to help docking. (upgrade-this is owners 2nd 4788 so he knows what improvements are needed)
- Drawers added under stairs
- obosolete factory stereo removed and sliding drawers added.
- storge in cockpit added (see photos)
- flybridge Entertainment center option
- door added over steps down to cockpit so people can't accidentally fall down
- aft-flybridge railing
- 3 Marine ACs w/reverse cycle heat (west coast boats don't usually have AC and it's expensive to install!)
- Radar, GPS, Autopilot
- new wiper arms and blades (do some research on how hard this job is!)
- new pillow-top mattress in master stateroom. Note this boat is day cruised ONLY. Do you want to sleep on 11 year old mattresses and sit on old upholstery? 09
The other half of the couch (not shown in photos) and salon table(not shown in photos)is in storage in excellent condition- and will be provided to buyer.
Short season yacht for past 6 years. Never damaged- NICE yacht just sitting in "dead economic area" (too far from ports where ships depart to other continents) to have been exported Down Under like most all the other nice 4788's have- and impossible to truck out West due to tight infrastructure of New England-so missed that boom too) Owner is only selling to buy larger yacht. Her current owner is her 2nd owner. He purchased her from the original owner when she was 100% Captain maintained AND operated. This is the current owners 2nd 4788, the other was a 98 model. Prior to that he owned a 4588 pilothouse Motoryacht, so this pretty much makes him an expert on these boats. Using his experience with these yachts he's discovered all dead spaces these boats have and has properly utilized it. The biggest improvement is that he opened up the salon floors the same as the late model Meridian 490's so one can easily access the engine room direct from the salon instead of the "tunnel of knee pain" like the rest of the 4788s and early 490 Meridians.
Since he uses this boat solely as a day boat for giving clients and grandkids rides along the Boston Waterfront, he's installed a door over the opening from the flybridge to the aft-deck, so nobody falls down it. He's also installed a nice seat on the foredeck with a back-rest so it's now actually a comfortable place to sit.
This boat has been recently inspected by clients of mine and both reported her as being in "wow, really nice condition" and May 2010 a buyer who made an offer (not accepted) actually said "MINT CONDITION".
IF you live in Canada or along the Great Lakes, this yacht would be a good choice for you, as it can be easily run home on her bottom.
Let me tell you buyers a good rule when you're boat buying. It's: "you want to shop the boat owner as much as boat it'self". This is an owner you want to buy from. Knowledgeable, experienced with deep pockets (means they can proactively maintain their toys) along with pride of ownership. Yacht Club Yacht.
